GEORGIA RUSH Baden, Pennsylvania
Hello! My name is Georgia Rush and I am beginning my second year of novitiate with the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Baden Pennsylvania. I am 35 years of age and was born in Pittsburgh Pa. I am the oldest of four children and the proud aunt of one wonderful nephew. I taught high school theology prior to entering novitiate. I hope to return to teaching following the completion of my novitiate. I love being in the classroom!
I have a Masters in Systematic Theology with a minor in Scripture and a Bachelors in Psychology. I had spent a few years working in the food service industry prior to the completion of my degrees. During graduate school, I was a waitress.
During grade school, the Sisters of Saint Joseph staffed my parish and school. I carried many memories and lessons learned from the sisters into adulthood.
Five years ago I had attended a vocation retreat held in my diocese. I met the vocation director from Baden. As it turns out, we grew up in the same neighborhood in Pittsburgh and our grandmothers knew each other. I had no interest in the Congregation, but went on a women's retreat in Baden a few months later. On the first evening of the retreat, I was sitting in a community room. I watched as the sisters greeted each other. There was such joy, warmth, and love in their greetings. I said to myself, "that is what I want…this is who I am." One year later I shared my experience with the vocation director.
Being from Pittsburgh, I am a true Steelers fan from birth. I enjoy football season! I also enjoy reading, poetry, hiking, time with family and friends, cooking and photography.
