Congratulations to Joan Sauro, CSJ (Albany) whose story, "Bars," has been published in the November 2009 (volume 74, no. 11, p. 36) issue of U.S. Catholic, a magazine published by the Claretians.

Joan is an award-winning author and illustrator of numerous articles and books, including Does God Ever Sleep?; Man In-Between: A Celebration of Waiting; Inner Marathon; Lollipop Trees & Rectangle Sidewalks; and Things Lost in Need of Finding. Joan’s articles, poems and stories have appeared in such periodicals as America, Sign Magazine, Weavings, St. Anthony Messenger and U.S. Catholic. Her story, "Battleground," was included in the anthology, Best Catholic Writing of 2007.

Joan, who has taught English and creative writing in schools in the Syracuse and Albany Dioceses and at The College of Saint Rose, resides in Syracuse, New York, where she has been a full-time writer, poet and illustrator since 1971.
