Joseph had dreams. He followed them and look what happened! The U.S. and Canadian Federation of Justice and Peace Coordinators have dreams. Lots of them.
In early October 2010 we kindled them in order to transform our world. It was a glorious event!
Barbara challenged us to look for the positive and to connect it. The power that created the Atomic bomb can also be used for the good. We see structures imploding all around us since those at the top lose touch with the rest of the people. Hierarchical structures will not last. It is up to us to evolve the NEW. To connect with those who are focusing on holistic ways of being and relating. Include the good of the old but always push ahead to the new, the future. Needed are persons immersed in contemplation and ready and energized to relate, to act. All this has been and is part and parcel of our work.
Judy Cauley, CSJ spoke of working with polarities, a challenge we all face. Clearly we need more practice with that. struggle!
For the next three days, Susan Wilcox, CSJ led us in a fabulous process facilitate the creation of our strategic plan.
This included silence, input, dance, drumming, nature walks, contemplation, vigiling and word smithing. What a wonderful process! Painful it was not!
Following input on Human Trafficking, Immigration, Oil Sands in Alberta, and the Mortgage crisis, we also heard positive facts about the U.N. Women now led by Michele Bachelet, working to empower women at all levels. Grizelda Morales and Esther Pineda had a grand report of our Latin American Sisters' meeting in Argentina. Emphasizing that, most importantly for all of us is our worldview. HOW we look at an issue. Justice demands that we look through the prism of the poor. We in the Global North need to constantly appraise how we are viewing a topic. Is how we see it in concert with our Sisters in the Global South?
Our vigil for the victims of Human Trafficking and Immigration prejudice, joined by Sisters and others in the Motherhouse, was greeted well by passersby.
On Saturday we finalized our Mission Statement and Goals for the coming year.
Mission Statement: Moving always toward the love of God and love of neighbor without distinction, we act collaboratively and collectively in a circle of relationships with the Global Joseph Community in addressing right relationship with the whole of creation.
2010-2011 Goals:
To apply the lens of gender equality and empowerment of women on the decisions that we make
- Support and collaborate with groups working on gender equality and the empowerment of women

With very grateful hearts we left Orange California, reenergized and with real promises to practice contemplation, to connect the positive and to meet and share frequently on our new WIKI site. Look for a planet change!
