Good Day. My name is Pat Quinn and I am beginning my first year novitiate with the Boston Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph. I am 48 years old and the oldest of four children. I was born, raised, and educated in Brockton, MA.

It was while doing volunteer work at Cardinal Cushing Hospital that I became interested in the medical field, as well as religious women. It was the medical field that grabbed me first. I attended a Technical Institute for Laboratory Science and then received an Associate of Science from Massasoit College. I enjoy working in a lab I feel we are the medical detectives for the physician. I have worked in the lab field for 29 years mostly in chronic care hospitals.

Always in the back of my mind were the nuns at Cardinal Cushing Hospital where I volunteered. The patients were always so happy to see them and the sisters seemed so peaceful and willing to help anyone they met. Looking for more out of life then just work, I finally decided to talk to my cousin who is in the congregation. I attended a Feast Day Mass of St. Joseph in 2002 and was hooked on this community. The openness and love that was shown was overwhelming. I met with the vocation director, asked many questions and finally decided to take a risk in my life. It has so far been a risk worth taking. My hopes for this year are that I remain open to what God has in store for me.

I enjoy gardening and skiing, to feel connected to God and watching and praying for the Red Sox to win the World Series.
